One of the most amazing technological dental developments is the use of CEREC® technology.

The acronym stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, and it means that our dentists can restore your damaged teeth, economically, in as little as an hour, by creating a custom ceramic piece for the tooth.

How Does CEREC® Work?

By incorporating the engineering technology of CAD (computer-aided design) and CAM (computer-aided manufacturing), CEREC weds imaging, computer modeling, and milling into one instrument to create exact matches for dental restorations.

First, your dentist will use the special camera to take a detailed image of the damaged tooth. The digital image is then uploaded into the special CAD program where the dentist will then design the custom restoration piece. Once the design is completed, the CAM component takes over and automatically creates the restoration while you wait. When the piece is completed, your dentist will bond the new piece to your existing tooth permanently.
